Fishing is fun—so if you are thinking of “giving fishing a go” START HERE:

I hope I can help anyone interested in starting to take up this most wonderful of Sports. I was co author of the National Federation of Anglers' Kingfisher Award Scheme for young beginners in coarse angling. I am a qualified level 2 coach in angling.

I am Chairman of the Junior Angling Committee of Warwick and District. This is a volunteer group dedicated to providing facilities and instruction for the young and also the disabled.

The Kingfisher Pool  Project

The Kingfisher Pool project, built with the help of a Sports Lottery grant of £181,000, is run by a committee made up of delegates from local fishing interests and individual volunteers, with the aim of helping the young and the disabled to enjoy our sport in a safe and accessible environment. It provides an unrivalled fishing facility for the young and disabled.

Instruction is provided by a group of adult volunteers, including N.F.A. Level 1 and Level 2 qualified coaches.

In March 2006 the magazine ADVANCED POLEFISHING said ” Kingfisher Pool in Warwick has to be one of the best small stillwaters I’ve seen. The pool is a really nice venue that , although situated close to the centre of Warwick, is a little haven for anglers especially juniors and the disabled for whom it’s been specially created.”

The Disabled The JAC recognises the shortage of suitable facilities for the many anglers with disabilities. It also wishes to encourage others to take up the sport. Kingfisher Pool offers excellent facilities for the disabled angler of any age and is available for individuals and groups.

Start Fishing An introduction to coarse fishing by Alan JonesAlan Jones.

The A4 size, 24 page illustrated booklet “Start Fishing” deals with all those questions a beginner needs to ask. It is not intended to deal with advance theories and techniques. It is fully illustrated and easy to read, so can be used by a non- fishing adult to help the young newcomer. A valuable aid in schools and clubs. For  more information : See Fishing Guide Page
